Boom announced that it has been awarded a new contract at the Snowy 2.0 project to supply a 750 tonne and 350 tonne crawler plus crew to support the installation of the tunnel boring machines, which commenced in August 2020.
Snowy 2.0 is a nation-building renewable energy project that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia.
The project involves linking two existing dams, Tantangara and Talbingo, through 27km of tunnels and building a new underground power station. The first power generated from Snowy 2.0 is expected in 2025, followed by progressive commissioning of its six generating units.
The infrastructure sector is a source of growth for Boom. We are targeting large civil infrastructure works, such as rail and level crossing removals, as well as bridge and tunnel boring projects.
There are over $35 billion of infrastructure projects planned next year and is expected to continue, over the next three years. The infrastructure sector is very positive with major developments underway and significant new projects in the pipeline across Australia. Boom is well positioned to benefit from this growth sector.
