Sport is a catalyst for connection, wielding immense power to bring people together. For Boom Logistics, sport represents more than just a game – it’s a way to lift and engage local communities, invest in the future leaders of the nation, and reflect Boom’s deep-rooted culture of teamwork, resilience and excellence.

Through partnerships with Perth Glory’s A-League Women’s (ALW) team and the Perth Wildcats, Boom is demonstrating that corporate sponsorships can go beyond a jersey logo to create meaningful, long-term change in the community.

And as a proud sponsor of Telethon and supporter of the 2024 Perth Running Festival, Boom has been actively participating in fundraisers dedicated to transforming the lives of the disadvantaged and vulnerable children in WA.

Giving Back

Boom Logistics believes corporate responsibility extends beyond financial contributions, and that success means having a tangible impact on the communities that need it most.

In collaboration with Perth Wildcats, Boom is lending its support to the continuous upgrade of basketball facilities, ensuring that young athletes have access to the resources they need to thrive.

Together with the Wildcats star players, Boom is working towards the goal of installing 200 new basketball nets across community courts in Perth, creating better spaces for aspiring athletes to develop their skills and passion for the game, and providing young people with improved facilities to participate in sporting activities and socialise with others in their community.

“Giving back is part of who we are at Boom. Whether it’s improving sporting facilities, supporting community programs, or fundraising for children in need, we want to create lasting impact where it matters most,” says Ben PieyreBoom Logistics Managing Director and CEO.

“Sport is a great way to connect with people, but our goal is to go beyond the game and make a real difference in the local community.”

Women in leadership

In its quest to advance diversity in its workforce, Boom Logistics actively seeks to create meaningful opportunities for women, both on and off the field. Perth Glory’s A-League Women’s (ALW) team is a clear example of women breaking barriers in sport and leadership, and challenging the norms in traditionally male-dominated fields.

Boom’s partnership with Perth Glory goes beyond supporting women in sport though. It’s about nurturing leadership, propelling talent, and inspiring a future generation of women leaders.

This collaboration includes supporting initiatives such as the ‘Girls for Glory’ program, which gives young aspiring female footballers as young as six years of age a chance to connect with the sport and learn from role models within the ALW team.

Mr Pieyre says the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, but importantly also looks to create a career pipeline for players post-sport.

“We want to shine a light on these incredible athletes who work so hard to achieve their goals and give them the recognition they deserve,” he says. “But it’s also about identifying future talent and leaders – women who will be able to bring the values cultivated in sport into our industry. If we don’t actively create opportunities for women in our business, we miss out on the unique talent and perspective they bring.”

Along with this commitment comes the responsibility to pave the way for future generations.

“Supporting women in sport aligns with our mission to increase the representation of women in our own industry,” says Pieyre. “By backing Perth Glory’s ALW team, we hope to inspire more women to step into leadership roles – not just in sport, but across all industries.”

People matter

Boom’s engagement with WA sport aligns with values that are at the core of the company’s mission. At the heart of Boom’s philosophy is a simple but powerful belief: people matter.

One of Boom’s core pillars of growth is a deep commitment to the safety and well-being of its staff, which resonates throughout its approach to business and community involvement.

Whether it’s athletes on the field, employees in high-risk industries, or communities in need, the company’s approach to business sponsorship is rooted in the same sporting values which it upholds in its very own workforce – teamwork, resilience, excellence.

“Just as these values are essential for success in sport, they are fundamental to how we operate as a business,” says Pieyre.

“We want to ensure the causes we support mirror the principles that drive us every day. Sport allows us to do just that. In our operations, we prioritise collaboration, overcoming challenges together as team, and consistently delivering results at the highest possible standard.”

“These values guide everything we do, and by partnering with sports teams, we not only showcase these principles but also have the opportunity to give back to the communities that mean so much to us.”

Beyond the game

Pieyre shares his personal thoughts on the lasting impact of sport – not just as a game, but as a force that shapes character, leadership and success.

“Reflecting on my career and my life trajectory, playing sport in my youth gave me invaluable tools that have contributed positively to my life. Sport taught me resilience, passion, and essential social and leadership skills, qualities that have become the pillars for both my career and personal life.”
